Each year we review our fees and charges that help fund the operation and maintenance of various services provided to the community.

All fees and charges include GST at the rate of 15% and will take effect from 1 July 2026.

Summary of new fees or charges

For 2026/27 most fees and charges have been adjusted in line with the inflation rate increase.

Some fees and charges have been adjusted to reflect cost recovery, which may be more than the rate of inflation. This includes resource consent application fees and new licence fees for stopbanks. Some fees that are no longer applicable have been removed.

These are some of the non-inflation movements

Resource consents
  • Initial application fee (previously referred to as a deposit) increased from $2,500 to $3,000
  • Engineering plan check fee of $500
  • New one-off fee of $300 for applications requiring an executive summary
Water consents
  • Partial transfers increased from $250 to $2,500
Forestry consents
  • New fee of $5,000
Water supply
  • Metered water fee increased from $2.10 to $2.32
Building services
  • Marquee fee increased to $400
  • A new fee for minor variations of $250
Flood protection
  • New fee categories
