Application returned with agreement of the applicant

June 9, 2026

Update 9 June 2026 - application has been returned with the agreement of the applicant

The Te Ara Tipuna consent application (LU-2023-112074-00) to construct a walking trail between Makorori, north of Gisborne and Potaka, near the Bay of Plenty boundary, has been returned under section 91C of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).

This is because the time the application has spent either on hold under section 92 or suspended under section 91A of the RMA has exceeded the maximum excluded timeframe of 130 working days.

The application has been returned with the agreement of the applicant, Te Ara Tipuna Trust. As a result, the resource consent process will not proceed and no hearing will be held.

If the application is re-lodged in the future, it will be treated as a new application. A new decision would then be made on whether it should be publicly notified under the RMA or any replacement legislation.

Submitters are being informed of the return of the application.

We thank all submitters for the time and effort taken to provide feedback on the proposal.
